The Challenge

For a business people find on a map, position and reviews are the storefront. A competitor can pick up twenty reviews in a week and move above you in Google Maps, and nothing announces it — it shows up months later as a quiet drop in enquiries. Checking by hand stops happening by week three. And most rank trackers show charts, when what an owner needs is to know what to do this week.

The Solution

MarketSignal runs every week without anyone remembering to start it. It scrapes Google Maps rankings for each tracked keyword and location, along with the competitors that show up around you, reads your reviews and theirs, audits your Google Business Profile against the competition, and has Claude write a report — in Spanish, English or both — that says what moved, why, and the one thing to do about it per location. It started inside the CushLabs client portal and was split out in October 2026 into its own application, with its own database, sign-in, deployment and monitoring. It is a standalone project today and available as a custom build. A public demo, Lumière Medspa, shows the full dashboard with invented data and no sign-in.

Technical Highlights

  • Scheduled weekly pipeline — scraping, analysis and the written report run on a cron with no manual step
  • Append-only snapshot architecture — ranking history is never overwritten, so any past week can be re-analyzed
  • Review intelligence with Claude — themes, sentiment and recurring complaints for your locations and your competitors
  • Multi-organization data model with [orgSlug] routing and Clerk sign-in — members see only their own organization
  • JSONB raw data columns keep the full scraper response, so new analysis needs no re-scrape and no schema change
  • Integrations switch on by configuration — a missing credential reports not_configured instead of failing the run
  • A public demo organization isolated by one constant: access, navigation, banner and exclusion from the weekly run

Results

  • A weekly competitive watch that runs without anyone remembering to check
  • One clear recommendation per location instead of a chart to interpret
  • Competitors' weak spots surfaced from their own reviews
  • A product split out of a live multi-tenant system onto its own infrastructure without touching the original

Highlights

Good for

  • Businesses competing on Google Maps, where a 20-review swing can cost three positions
  • Multi-location businesses that want the same competitive picture for every branch
  • Owners who want one clear action per week, not a dashboard full of charts
  • A business that wants its own competitive watch as a custom build

Not a complete solution for

  • Replying to reviews — review management lives in the CushLabs client portal, not here
  • Real-time monitoring with instant alerts; MarketSignal works on a weekly cycle
  • National or e-commerce brands that do not compete in local map results

What you get

  • Weekly Google Maps rank tracking for every keyword and location pair, with week-over-week deltas
  • Competitor monitoring for the businesses that appear around each location
  • Review intelligence on your locations and your competitors
  • A Google Business Profile completeness audit against the local competition
  • An AI-written weekly report in Spanish, English or both, ending in one action per location
  • A per-organization dashboard: overview, competitors, actions and report history
